architecture 7.0 The dependency rule still holds at the centre. public/game.js has no imports, so the rules (shell physics, economy, rounds, forfeit, applyCommand) can be unit-tested in plain node. The new online code also keeps the core clean. applyCommand(g, p, c) in game.js:~line 'applyCommand' takes plain command objects, and the client drains them through online.js, which receives fetch and EventSource by injection (online.js createOnline(io)), so the network is inverted behind a seam. The server-side room logic is a closure that receives a `send` callback per player, so it stays free of HTTP types. The weaknesses are these. (1) lib/rooms.js imports WEAPONS from public/game.js (rooms.js:2) to validate commands. That is an inward dependency, but it crosses the public/ tree into server code, so the shared core is not a neutral module. (2) lib/rooms.js mixes match lifecycle (open/live/over, forfeit, recording) with transport and identity (randomBytes pids, SSE send callbacks, detach). The state machine cannot be tested without a fake transport, and nothing in it is a pure domain object. (3) lib/hall.js combines the ranking rule with JSON file persistence (readFileSync/writeFileSync) and the wall clock (Date.now() in record). The ranking comparator, which is the one ordering the task pins, is not separable from the file store, and there is no repository seam; the store is concrete. (4) The wire vocabulary ('lobby', 'start', 'cmd', 'forfeit', 'aim', 'fire') is typed as string literals on both sides (rooms.js and online.js) with no shared protocol module. (5) Carried over from earlier reviews and still open: the renderer drains a core-owned event queue, and tank geometry is duplicated between core and renderer. The top level is lib/, public/, server.js, and test/. It is reasonably descriptive (rooms, hall, online), but game.js and main.js still say nothing about the duel. The seams are proportionate to a two-player, two-hour build: one room module, one hall module, and one client module. The hall and rooms pieces are, however, the least separated from their infrastructure.

ux 2.5 The committed build is still the single-round artillery duel. The screenshots show no wind indicator, no shop, no money or round counter, and no MIRV. The HUD still shows only health bars and a turn line (.ololo/evidence screenshots; index.html has no shop or wind markup). The core rendering is clean, but none of the surfaces this task asks for exist to be judged, so the visible experience does not meet the brief. accessibility 4.0 Markup has lang="en", a real h1, labelled sliders with output elements, an aria-live turn line and a labelled canvas, which is reasonable semantics. The canvas still has no text alternative for the battlefield state, and there is no shop or wind text to read because those features are missing. The Fire button's disabled state is low-contrast in the screenshots, as my earlier verdict noted. mobile n/a No narrow-viewport capture was delivered for this task. The only 375px-style file (.ololo/evidence/8-mobile.png) is in the repo but was not among the screenshots attached to this review, so the narrow layout could not be seen. The participant never delivered a screencast or narrow capture of the new features either.

data 2.0 The task pins an arsenal price list and an economy ($750 Big Bertha, $2500 Nuke, $1500 MIRV, Missile free; $10 per damage point; $500 round bonus). None of it exists at HEAD. public/core.js has no weapon table, no price, no money, no stock, no round counter and no wind value. newGame() (core.js) and game.js still hold only the single-shot duel state: HP, angle, power, terrain. Because the pinned dataset was never introduced, there is no declared source of truth for prices or payouts to check, so the criterion is barely met. The task-window diff (d7a13b1..796bdf4) only touches game.js rendering: a roundedRect shim, a render() wrapper with try/catch, and a setInterval redraw. It adds no data. Nothing is fabricated, since nothing is shown. The earlier duplication still stands unchanged: the 55/60 starting values appear in both core.js:createTank/newGame and index.html:value attributes, and the player colours and names are repeated in index.html and core.js. Note also that the required .ololo/scorched-arsenal-done.md is absent, so no sourcing claim is documented for this task.

architecture 3.5 The inner ring is intact. public/core.js has no imports and takes its randomness as an injected rng (generateTerrain/newGame), so the rules stay plain and testable. The edge, public/game.js:1-5, imports core.js and owns the canvas, DOM, input and animation, so dependencies point inward. This is the same structure the prior build established. But the work window (d7a13b1..796bdf4) adds no wind, shop, economy or MIRV code: core.js is untouched and no new module exists. The diff only shows evidence PNGs, a roundedRect canvas-compat helper, a render() split with a try/catch, and a setInterval redraw timer (game.js ~L137-L143, ~L249-L262, ~L318-L320). None of that is a boundary decision for the new rules. The task's central rules (wind drift, arsenal pricing, money per damage point, round and match wins) have no home yet, so the dependency-rule test cannot be applied to them. The required done file .ololo/scorched-arsenal-done.md is also absent. Score is low because the task's architecture is unbuilt, not because the existing structure is wrong.

product 1.0 None of the four task scenarios is implemented. core.js has no wind state, no shop, no weapon inventory, no money, no MIRV split, and no round or match structure: explode() and newGame() handle a single shot-and-kill duel only. Missile is the only weapon, and BLAST_RADIUS is a fixed 60 with MAX_DAMAGE 30. The arsenal table, $10-per-point payout, and $500 round bonus are absent. The required completion note .ololo/scorched-arsenal-done.md does not exist at HEAD. The work-window diff only adds a roundRect polyfill, a try/catch around rendering, and a setInterval render fallback, none of which serves the requested features. The screenshots in .ololo/evidence show the old artillery duel with no wind indicator, shop, or money display. Because the scenarios are missing, the product caps well below useful.

tests 1.0 None of the four scenarios in this task (wind, shop/purchase and ammo fallback, MIRV split, damage-to-money and round bonus) has a test. The work-window diff (d7a13b1..796bdf4) changes only public/game.js (roundedRect helper, render() try/catch, a setInterval render loop, an immediate paint) and binary .ololo/evidence PNGs. test/core.test.js and test/server.test.js are unchanged from the prior task. Those existing tests cover only the artillery core (explode, damageAt, endTurn, and so on), and none of them exercises wind, pricing, money, rounds, or MIRV. The game.js changes are rendering robustness with no assertion. The task also requires a screencast artifact, but no interactive probe was registered and none has been delivered. The new try/catch and timer code in game.js is untested. The verdict rests on the repo state at HEAD, not on any run of the game.

cleanliness 2.5 The task's work-window diff (d7a13b1..796bdf4) contains no wind, shop, money, or MIRV code. The only changes are a roundedRect shim in game.js, a render() split out of frame(), a setInterval render path, and a immediate render call at startup. The added setInterval and the startup render() both paint the same frame that requestAnimationFrame already paints, so there are now two render drivers with overlapping responsibilities. The try/catch in render() swallows drawing errors with a console.error, which hides faults rather than naming them. .ololo/scorched-arsenal-done.md does not exist at HEAD, and core.js still exposes only the original constants (MAX_DAMAGE = 30, BLAST_RADIUS = 60) with no price table or economy functions. maintainability 2.5 A newcomer would find two overlapping render drivers (the rAF frame loop and a 50 ms setInterval that calls render when the last frame is more than 100 ms old) plus a silent catch-all around the draw calls. Together these make the loop's timing and its error behaviour hard to reason about. The new shell and MIRV mechanics the task asked for are absent from core.js, so there is nothing to change safely in the requested areas. The roundedRect fallback is a small, reasonable boundary guard. The per-feature magic numbers (50 ms, 100 ms) are inline and unnamed.

creativity 2.5 The work-window diff adds no feature the brief did not ask for. The only changes are a roundedRect fallback for older browsers (public/game.js, roundedRect helper), a render() wrapper that catches drawing errors so the loop survives, and a setInterval that keeps rendering when requestAnimationFrame pauses in hidden tabs (public/game.js, end of file). These are robustness fixes, not user-facing extras. The brief's own features are absent: public/core.js has no wind, shop, money, MIRV or multi-round logic, and no .ololo/scorched-arsenal-done.md exists at HEAD. Because the core does not deliver the brief, extra-mile credit is capped and scored low.

ux n/a No screenshot was delivered. The register_probe call returned that the session is over, so no participant captured the duel or any shop, wind, or MIRV surface. Per the rubric this criterion cannot be scored from code. accessibility n/a No screenshot was delivered, so contrast and visual legibility cannot be judged. The markup was not reviewed as a substitute, since this criterion depends on seeing the rendering. mobile n/a No narrow-viewport capture exists, so the 375px view cannot be assessed. The pinned mobile criterion depends on seeing the render, so it is null rather than graded from CSS.

tests 1.0 No test was written for this task. The work-window diff (2c6ff02..612965b) changes only file modes on AGENTS.md and README.md, and test/ still holds only the two files from the prior task (game.test.js, terrain.test.js). Nothing covers the four scenarios: wind (no wind field or arc-bending assertion), the shop (no purchase, stock decrement, or Missile fallback test), the MIRV (no split-at-apex test), or the economy ($10 per point dealt, $500 round bonus). The existing game.test.js has no money or round-count assertions either, so the three-round match rule is also untested. The existing tests are honest and assert concrete values, but they test the prior build only. No screencast or test-run probe was registered, and none was needed to reach this verdict, since the absence is visible in the diff.

cleanliness 3.0 This task's work-window diff (2c6ff02..612965b) changes only file modes on AGENTS.md and README.md. No wind, shop, money, or MIRV code was written, so there is nothing new to assess for naming or dead code. The inherited code keeps the flaws I noted in task #0: tank geometry literals (8, 11, 16, 42, 54) are repeated across game.js and render.js, and render.js:drawExplosion hardcodes 0.7 while game.js defines EXPLOSION_TIME. game.js:70 also still ends with a stray re-export of BLAST_RADIUS and CRATER_RADIUS. Score is low because the submission adds no code of its own. maintainability 3.0 There is no new shop, economy, wind, or multi-round logic to judge, and no ownership or error-handling changes. The current Game class still has a single-round state machine (phase 'over' ends the match), so a newcomer would have to write the match, shop, and wind logic from scratch. Magic values remain unnamed (render.js:64-70, render.js:101). The deliverable .ololo/scorched-arsenal-done.md is absent at HEAD, so the player has not documented the solution either.

product 0.5 The committed product is still the original artillery duel from the prior task. None of the four scenarios exist at HEAD. There is no wind: physics.js:1-20 has only gravity and launch velocity, and stepShell has no wind term. There is no shop or money: game.js has no currency, purchase, inventory or weapon-selection state, and fire() (game.js:fire) always fires the single standard shell. There is no MIRV: explode() (game.js:explode) handles only one blast with BLAST_RADIUS 50 and MAX_DAMAGE 30, and nothing splits at the apex. There is no multi-round match: endTurn() (game.js:endTurn) ends the match on one kill, with no round wins, no terrain regeneration and no $500 bonus. The required completion note .ololo/scorched-arsenal-done.md is absent at HEAD. The work-window diff contains only file-mode changes to AGENTS.md and README.md. No wind or MIRV screencast was delivered, so the live flows cannot be verified. The product does not serve the requested arms-race experience.

creativity 3.0 The work-window diff for this task contains no game code. It changes only file modes for AGENTS.md and README.md. HEAD's src/game.js and src/physics.js are still the earlier duel: no wind (physics.js has only gravity), no shop or money, no MIRV, no multi-round match, and no .ololo/scorched-arsenal-done.md. With nothing built for this brief, there is no extra-mile touch to credit, and the missing core scenarios sit below the plain-implementation baseline. The only extras visible are the earlier duel's (Shift fine-adjust, explosion animation, draw outcome), which were credited under task #0 and are not new here.

architecture 2.0 The work window contains no structural change. The only diff from 2c6ff02 to 612965b is file-mode changes on AGENTS.md and README.md. src/game.js, src/render.js, src/physics.js and src/terrain.js are untouched, and no wind, shop, economy or MIRV module exists in the tree. There is therefore no new core, boundary, or seam to assess for this task. The 2.0 reflects that the requested features were never built, not the quality of the inherited duel core, which I already rated in task #0. The 'not-done' prior results agree: .ololo/scorched-arsenal-done.md is absent.

data 1.0 Nothing in this task's work window adds data. The diff from the session start (85a6239) to HEAD (612965b) changes only file modes on AGENTS.md and README.md. The shipped src/game.js still has no price list, no weapon inventory, no money or payout fields, and no wind value. The arsenal table in the task (Missile, Big Bertha, Nuke, MIRV with prices and blast stats) exists nowhere in the repo, so there is no source of truth to trace and no output derived from the pinned dataset. The economy ($10 per damage point, $500 round bonus) is also absent. Honesty of sourcing is not violated only because nothing is shown at all. The score reflects the absence of a data layer for this task, not a defect in one that was built.

product 5.5 The code covers every scenario in the brief, but nothing shows it running. The judges' required two-window screencast was not delivered: the probe request returned 'session is over', so hosting, joining, the shot landing on both screens, and the hall update are all unverified. Judged from code, the design is sound. Invite codes and ?join= links are implemented (lib/rooms.js host/join; main.js:~245 reads params.get('join')). Both clients replay one seeded game (game.js newGame(mulberry32(seed))) from server-numbered commands, and applyCommand defers commands while a shot is in flight, so the lockstep stays deterministic. Leaving a live match forfeits it (rooms.js detach, forfeit event). The hall ranks by wins then damage (hall.js:ranking) and persists to JSON (hall.js record writeFileSync). Turn labels show 'Your turn' versus '<name>'s turn' (main.js hudHtml). Weaknesses: the result is client-reported (rooms.js result() trusts damage and score), and hall entries are keyed by lowercased name, so different players with the same name merge. The completion note is a single accurate paragraph.

ux 5.5 The 1280px capture shows a clear HUD: the wind readout, round and turn text are centred in gold, the player cards are colour-coded, and the FIRE button is the dominant control. The shop overlay is readable, with prices and stock per item. Deductions: the disabled weapon buttons and the unaffordable prices are very dim, and the battlefield sits between two bands of empty space. None of this task's new behaviours (collapse, tank fall, CPU turns) appear in any capture, so the hierarchy for those states is unverified. accessibility 4.0 The HUD, turn text and shop are now real HTML text rather than canvas-baked, which is a real improvement (hudHtml/overlayHtml in main.js). The hold buttons carry aria-labels (index.html angle/power buttons), and the page declares lang="en". Weak points: the FIRE button has no aria-label, the status text has no live region so the CPU's turn and the winner are not announced, and the disabled weapon and price labels are low contrast in the 1280px capture. The battlefield itself is still a canvas with no text alternative. mobile 5.5 The 375px capture shows the battlefield, HUD, angle/power/FIRE row and weapon buttons all fitting on screen with no horizontal scroll, and the buttons are at least 44px (index.html min-height 44px). The battlefield is squeezed into a short band with a large empty gap above the controls, so the canvas is small. The task's required touch-play screencast has not arrived, so touch aiming and firing are not verified in motion.

ux n/a No screenshot or screencast of this task's surfaces was delivered. The interactive probe was rejected with 'the session is over', so the lobby/invite screen, the live two-window duel, the win overlay and the hall of fame were never seen. The attached images predate this task's multiplayer code and show only the single-screen game. accessibility n/a Cannot judge contrast or rendered semantics without a capture of the online screens. Markup observations only, not scored: index.html has lang="en" and a viewport meta (public/index.html:2-3), and the hold buttons carry aria-labels (public/index.html:24-25). Overlay panels have no role=dialog or aria-live region, so turn and winner changes are not announced to screen readers (public/main.js overlayHtml, renderUi). The hall table has no caption or scoped headers. mobile n/a No narrow-viewport capture of the lobby, online duel or hall of fame exists. The only mobile images attached belong to earlier builds, so the responsive behaviour of this task's screens was not verified. The CSS has responsive hints (flex-wrap HUD, dvh layout, min-width:44px buttons), but those are not evidence of how the online screens render.

tests 6.5 The suite is layered and mostly specific. Hall ranking, tie-breaks and restart persistence are asserted with concrete values (test/hall.test.js:8-37, survives-restart at :39-45). Rooms rules are checked directly: command ordering, whitelisting, forfeit on leave, one-time result recording and sanitised numbers (test/rooms.test.js). The server test runs two real SSE clients through a shared shot, a dropped out-of-turn command, a double-fire and a defection, then checks the hall on disk (test/server.test.js:57-117). That is a real integration path. Weaknesses: the browser layer is only a fake-DOM test (test/main.test.js), so no two-window browser test exists. The task's own requirement for a screencast of two browser windows is not met by any test or delivered artifact; the artifacts folder holds only stills. Some assertions are weak. The 'report waits for the end' test (test/online.test.js) ends with a forced `o.forfeitLoser = 0` and a winner check that tests internals rather than behaviour. 'send and report survive network failure' asserts nothing beyond not throwing. The 'guest leaving frees the seat' test only checks the size count and the start message. Hall-page rendering and the hall HTTP endpoint after a server restart are not tested end to end. Nothing is skipped or hard-coded. Overall: honest and proportionate for a small multiplayer layer, but missing browser-level and screencast verification of the live two-player flows.

data 4.5 The core game data is well placed. game.js is the single source of truth for WEAPONS, SHOP, the economy constants and the new fall and AI constants (FALL_SAFE, FALL_DAMAGE, AI_CLOSE_IN, game.js ~L10-13). The rules are pure and tested, and main.js only drives them through isBusy, aiPlan, aiShop and update, so the data layer is cleanly separated. The defects are shadow copies that persist. public/index.html still hard-codes the shop prices on the touch pad (Big Bertha $750, Nuke $2500, MIRV $1500), which is unchanged context in the diff. AGENTS.md still carries the full price table while also claiming WEAPONS is 'the only price list'. Both are drifting copies that the previous Wind/weapons verdict asked to derive from WEAPONS or remove, and this task did not fix them. The committed .ololo/tmp scratch files also remain in the tree. The falling-earth, computer and touch mechanics are simulated from the real physics and terrain, with no fabricated values. Capped at 5.0 for the redeclared prices.

Thibaut de Sany evaluated by Test Quality on Task 2 +15 points
tests 5.5 The logic-layer tests are strong and specific. Falling earth has concrete numbers: a 20px hanging chunk over a 300-400 hole lands at 380 (test/game.test.js, 'dirt left hanging...'). Tank falls check exact damage via Math.round((drop - FALL_SAFE) * FALL_DAMAGE) and the shooter payout. A monotonic fall-damage check runs at depths 10/40/70/100, and the 'fall that kills' path is covered. The computer rival has a traceShot prediction-vs-real-shot check, a multi-seed test that every miss lands strictly closer, a big-gun trigger test and an AI shop test. Weaknesses: the convergence test guards its strict-decrease assertion with `if (misses.length && !hit)` and reads g.lastMiss directly, which couples it to internals. There is no test for the browser layer that this task changed most: driveComputer pacing and the 'computer takes its own turns' flow in main.js, the menu and mode selection in press(), the pointer drag-to-aim in aimAt(), the responsive canvas sizing, and the falling-dirt rendering. The 'playable on a phone' and 'computer plays its own turns' scenarios therefore have no automated check, only the requested screencast. No coverage report was delivered. The previous task's judgement already named the missing browser-layer harness, and it still has not been added. The task also asks for .ololo/scorched-polish-done.md, which is absent from the tree.

cleanliness 7.0 The server side is tidy. lib/rooms.js keeps the command whitelist (cleanCommand, rooms.js:14-24) and the room lifecycle in small named functions, and lib/hall.js is short and clear. Two things pull the score down in public/main.js. First, startOnline (main.js ~L37-43) repeats the reset block from start (blasts, trail, view, game setup), so the same state reset is written twice. Second, actOnline (main.js ~L73-84) re-implements the aim-step mapping that act() already encodes (the dir-based angle/power nudges), so the aim rules live in two places. Smaller items: hudHtml's turn label is a three-level nested ternary (main.js ~L224), and frame() checks online.status directly where the isOnline() helper exists. No duplication tool output was attached, so this rests on reading. The duplication is small and not a 10%+ problem. maintainability 6.5 The server boundaries are handled well: body size capped at MAX_BODY (server.js:7, 20-27), errors turned into 400 responses (server.js:50-54), room capacity and code-collision handling (rooms.js:30-35), and forfeit/record paths guarded by the recorded flag (rooms.js:55-75). A newcomer can follow lib/rooms.js. The weak spot is public/main.js (~400 lines), which mixes keyboard and pointer input, DOM template strings, canvas drawing and the lockstep frame loop in one module. Magic values remain inline: the tank geometry in drawTank (main.js ~L157-175: 24, 8, 16, 40, 6, 30), the 70 ms hold repeat and 14px font, and the 4-letter code and angle/power clamps. Their meaning is clear from context, but they should be named. The nested turn ternary in hudHtml also costs comprehension. Improving this would need only a few named constants and a split of the input and template code into their own modules.

ux 5.5 The committed stills show a coherent dark-theme battlefield with a clear turn readout and a legible shop card (shop.png). The primary info is readable, but the canvas HUD text (player name, HP, angle, wind label) is small, and the banner is faint. Nothing in the stills shows the new falling-earth, tank-drop, or computer-rival behaviour, so the headline feature of this task is not visible in the review material. The mode menu added in this diff was never captured. accessibility 4.5 The page has an h1 and real text buttons with labels and small captions (mobile.png), and the readout is real HTML text rather than baked into the canvas. The canvas itself has no alternative text or fallback description, and the in-canvas HUD and shop 'own'/price text are small, muted grey on dark navy at 800px scale (desktop.png, shop.png). Information is not encoded in colour alone, since the HP bars are paired with numbers. The screenshots alone do not establish WCAG-level contrast. mobile 5.5 The narrow capture (mobile.png) shows the battlefield, readout, and a 2×2 touch pad with 48px-plus buttons fitting the width with no horizontal scroll or overlap. The CSS has a max-width:700px media query, a dvh-based canvas height, and a landscape rule (public/index.html). The capture is of the arsenal build, though, and the phone menu row and drag-to-aim changes from this task are not in it. The touch-driven firing and falling-tank behaviour were not captured.

data 7.0 Data lives in clear places. CONFIG and WEAPONS in public/game.js:1-17 are the one set of tuning values, and lib/rooms.js:2 imports WEAPONS for command validation, so the server and the client share one arsenal table. The hall has one owner: lib/hall.js persists a single JSON file (HALL_FILE, default data/hall.json) and sorts once, in ranking() (lib/hall.js:29-30). The client renders the server order without re-sorting (public/main.js hallHtml). The match seed is the single source of terrain for both players (lib/rooms.js host(), then startOnline in main.js), so both screens replay the same game. Layering is clean: rooms.js handles match state, hall.js handles persistence, online.js handles the client stream, and main.js renders. No mock or sample data ships; the hall fixtures sit only in test/main.test.js. Deductions: (1) the canvas is still hardcoded as width="800" height="450" in public/index.html:20 and duplicates CONFIG.W/H, a repeat of the item I flagged in earlier rounds and still open; (2) the hall's damage and score figures are trusted from whichever client reports first (lib/rooms.js result(), lines 'record(f.room, w, ...)'). The server never simulates, so nothing checks those numbers against the relayed command stream. The ranking is therefore only as honest as the first client's report. (3) On a double disconnect, record() writes damage [0,0] and score [0,0] for a match that may have progressed (lib/rooms.js detach()). Honesty of sourcing is only partly met here: the win comes from the server's own forfeit record, but the damage figures are client-asserted.

cleanliness 6.0 Core rules in game.js are readable and new constants are named (FALL_SAFE, FALL_DAMAGE, AI_CLOSE_IN, public/src/game.js:13-15). Two copy-paste and naming problems keep this from scoring higher. First, the 'advance to next shopper' block is written twice: once in shopKey (public/src/main.js ~line 117-124) and again in finishLater (main.js ~line 157-165), each doing before/finishShopping/shopNote=null/newRoundView. Second, the `t.y - 6` and `t.y - 8` tank-centre offsets, which the earlier verdicts already flagged, are still unnamed and have spread: game.js stepShell, explode, noteLanding, aiPlan and traceShot callers, plus main.js aimAt (`t.y - 8 - y`) and drawTank. The AI's `ai` object also changes shape between `{plan, wait}` and a `{done: true}` sentinel, which is hard to follow. Credit where due: the fall-damage and falling-dirt paths are clear, and the duplicated shell guard from the first task is gone. maintainability 5.5 The rules are layered: pure physics steps (stepShell, settle, surfaceUnder) are separated from drawing, and tests cover falling dirt, fall damage and the AI. Several things slow a newcomer down. `aiPlan` (game.js ~lines 300-325) has unnamed search bounds (25/80/5, 15/100, 240*12, 30 and 120+rand*120) inside a nested loop that runs a full physics trace for every candidate, so each AI decision is very costly. `settle` (game.js ~lines 165-185) mixes dirt and tank rules in one forEach with several early returns. `driveComputer` (main.js ~lines 146-170) hides pacing constants (0.9, 70, 60, 0.01) and uses a sentinel object for state. `finishLater` relies on a 1400 ms setTimeout that can fire after the state has moved on. `drawShop`, `drawHud` and `drawMenu` are long, hard-coded layout blocks. The `dy = t.y - 8 - y` drag maths (main.js ~line 107) repeats the muzzle offset without a name. None of these is a blocker, but together they make safe edits harder.

creativity 6.8 Several genuine end-user touches go past the brief and are wired in code: a shareable ?join= invite link that pre-fills the code field (main.js lobbyHtml, `params.get('join')`), the player's name remembered in localStorage (main.js savedName/rememberName), a 'recent results' feed under the hall of fame with forfeit labels and score (main.js hallHtml, hall.js recent()), an explanatory 'Opponent left the match' banner on the result overlay (main.js overlayHtml), and a shadow-aim mechanism so rapid key presses build on the last sent aim before the server echoes it (main.js actOnline). The server also escapes names and caps room count (rooms.js cleanName, MAX_ROOMS). These are useful and coherent, but none is a standout mechanism. The multiplayer screencast the brief requires was not delivered, so the live two-window behaviour of these touches is not visually confirmed. The newest commits also fix a second-finger hold bug and tidy tests, which is housekeeping rather than extra.

creativity 7.0 Several end-user touches go past the brief and are wired in code: a two-card mode picker (vs Computer / Two players) with a live backdrop and keyboard or tap selection (public/src/main.js, drawMenu and press); press-and-drag aiming straight on the battlefield, where direction sets angle and distance sets power (main.js aimAt and pointer listeners); a landscape phone layout with the battlefield at full height and controls in a side column (public/index.html landscape media query); a paced computer turn that swings the barrel before firing and shows 'Computer is aiming…' in the phone readout (main.js driveComputer); and the computer's shop announcing its arsenal (main.js shopNote). The fall-damage banner ('Fall −X') and the computer's shot walk-in (AI_CLOSE_IN in game.js) also add to the feel. None of this is a signature mechanic, and I could not confirm the motion visually: no falling-earth, rival, or touch screencast is among the delivered artifacts, and the three stills show only the desktop, mobile, and shop screens. The scoring rests on committed code. The .ololo/scorched-polish-done.md file is also missing, which is a completion gap I am not charging here because it belongs to the sibling judges.

Thibaut de Sany evaluated by Architecture on Task 2 +17 points
architecture 6.0 The core is still a pure module that the edge drives. public/src/game.js gained falling dirt (settle, explode), tank falls, and the computer's planning (traceShot, aiPlan, aiShop) without importing the DOM or the framework. The AI reuses the real physics through stepShell on a fresh shell object, so the rival's planning sits inside the core and is testable with test/game.test.js and no browser. Two faults I raised earlier remain unfixed. First, the wall clock still leaks into the core: `createMatch({ width = 960, height = 540, seed = Date.now(), ai = [false, false] } = {})` in game.js still defaults the seed to Date.now(), even though the edge already passes a seed from Math.random. Second, public/src/main.js is still one edge file of roughly 550 lines that mixes keyboard and pointer input, the menu, canvas drawing, the HUD and readout, the computer's turn pacing (driveComputer, finishLater with setTimeout), and the shop-note text. The new computer-turn driver and the 'Computer's arsenal' banner text are decisions made in the edge that could sit in the core as data. The core is still proportionate for a task this size, so the edge is the weak spot, and it has grown since the last review.

cleanliness 6.5 The core is readable and the new game.js helpers are mostly well named (isSolid, collapse, settleTanks, fallDamage, landingX, aiAim, applyCommand). Several things drag it down. start() and startOnline() in main.js (main.js:~20-40) repeat the same blasts/trail/aiTimer/shadow reset. actOnline() (main.js ~line 60) re-implements the aim step that adjust()/setAim() already perform, with its own direction map. clamp is redefined in main.js even though game.js has its own private copy. surfaceY in game.js:~52 is now a per-column scan that may have no remaining callers after the grid switch, which looks like dead code. Ternary chains in humanTurn and hudHtml are dense. No duplication tool output was supplied, so this rests on reading the code. maintainability 6.0 The simulation is split into small steps (integrate, advance, collapse, settle, finishShot), and the settle loop is bounded by SETTLE_PASSES, which is a good sign. Several magic values remain inline: impacts() uses 6 and TANK_HIT_RADIUS, makeShell uses 14 and 10, explode uses blast*0.7, collapse uses H-2, and paintTerrain (main.js ~line 150) uses colour bytes and a depth of 4. drawTank (main.js ~line 190) keeps 40/24/34 dimensions inline. main.js is about 300 lines mixing input, DOM string templates, rendering and the frame loop, so a newcomer needs to scroll to follow a flow. Nesting is shallow, and the new CONFIG entries (FALL_SAFE, FALL_DAMAGE, AI_BIAS, AI_DECAY) are named well. Net: a clear core with leftover magic numbers and a long UI module.

tests 6.0 The game-logic tests for this task are specific and honest. Collapse is checked by exact cells: hanging dirt ends at rows H-2 and H-12 with H-13 empty and dirty cleared (test/game.test.js, 'hanging ground tumbles down'). Fall damage has a boundary and a growth check: 8 rows free, 20 rows costs 6, 100 rows costs 46, and a deadly fall ends the round (game.test.js, 'short fall is free', 'a deadly fall ends the round'). A tank rising out of landed dirt and a tank dropping after a nuke are also covered. The solo AI test asserts that three successive misses strictly shrink (game.test.js, 'each miss is closer than the last'). Level mix is reasonable: main.test.js plays a full solo match through the DOM stubs to 'wins the match', and server.test.js runs two clients over real SSE. Gaps: the convergence check uses one seed (5). Nothing tests the mobile requirement: no test asserts the no-scroll layout (index.html uses 100dvh/overflow hidden, unverified) or that touch hits fit a narrow viewport. The touch test in main.test.js ('touch buttons act, hold repeats...') runs presses and calls frames(1) with almost no assertions, and its only check is a loose regex /P1.*?Missile ∞ (?!45°)\d+°/ that passes on many states. Several server.test.js lines are no-ops (`until(async () => ...).catch(() => {})`). No test shows that a blast over a tank and its neighbouring dirt produces a visible collapse, and there is no test of falling tanks' health bar in the HUD. No screencast or test-run probe was delivered, so the flows are verified by reading only. The required .ololo/scorched-polish-done.md is also absent, so the suite cannot be tied to a completed deliverable.

No screencast of collapsing dirt, a falling tank losing health, the rival's converging shots, or touch play on a narrow screen was delivered. The attached screenshots show the older duel HUD and shop, not the new features. The code shows the features exist: grid-based collapse with `collapse()` and `settle()` in game.js, `fallDamage` at 8px safe then 0.5 per px, `aiAim` with bias decay at AI_DECAY 0.5, and a responsive layout with touch hold buttons in index.html and main.js. Those are substantive, but the scenarios are unproven in play and the done-note deliverable is missing.

creativity 7.0 Several genuine extra touches go past the brief and look functional in code. The standout is the computer's self-correcting aim: aiAim() offsets its target by a bias, then after each shot resets the bias to 50% of the observed miss (game.js, aiAim and CONFIG.AI_DECAY). That gives the convergence the brief asks for through a simple, explainable mechanism. Other touches: hold-to-repeat aim buttons on pointer events (main.js, controls pointerdown with setInterval), a CPU that skips the shop (doneShopping), grass-capped strata painted onto a cached terrain canvas (paintTerrain), and a shadow aim that lets rapid presses build on unsent input (actOnline). The mobile layout uses a fixed HUD, a flex stage and a touch-sized control footer. Deductions: no screencast of falling earth, tank fall or touch play appears in the deliveries, so the visual behaviour cannot be confirmed. The features are plausible in code but not seen running. Pure code evidence keeps this at a solid but modest level above baseline.

data 7.5 The terrain has one source of truth. `g.grid` (game.js, `buildGrid`/`carve`/`collapse`) is the only terrain state, and `isSolid`, `surfaceY`, the tank settling, the shell physics and the renderer all read it. The new tuning values (FALL_SAFE, FALL_DAMAGE, SETTLE_PASSES, AI_ANGLES, AI_BIAS, AI_DECAY) sit in CONFIG (game.js:5-6), and the fall-damage and AI logic read them from there. No mock or sample data ships, and the terrain is generated fresh per round from the seeded RNG. The data layer is separated: pure logic lives in game.js (`settleTanks`, `fallDamage`, `aiAim`, `landingX`) and rendering in main.js (`paintTerrain` caches the grid bitmap by version). Deductions: a tank's `y` is a second stored copy of ground height that `settleTanks` must keep in sync with the grid (game.js, `settleTanks`), and `surfaceY` is now an O(H) scan. The earlier open item still stands: index.html:`<canvas id="c" width="800" height="450">` remains hardcoded and is not set from CONFIG in main.js. Sourcing is honest: the falling and AI behaviour is derived from the simulation itself, not fetched or fabricated.

architecture 7.5 The core is a clean inner ring. public/core.js has no imports at all (no DOM, no framework, no clock), and its only outward-looking seam is the injected rng parameter on generateTerrain/newGame (core.js:~27, ~62). The rules the task is about (shot simulation, crater carving, damage falloff, explode/winner, turn passing) are plain functions over plain data, and test/core.test.js imports '../public/core.js' directly, so the central logic runs in plain unit tests with no server or browser. The edge is public/game.js, which imports core.js and owns the canvas, DOM, animation and input. Dependencies point inward: core.js never names a browser or Node type. Deductions: (1) The edge drives rule transitions. finishShot() (game.js, called from drawShell inside the requestAnimationFrame frame loop) runs explode()/endTurn(), so game progression is tied to the render loop rather than to a sequencing step the core owns. (2) Input bypasses the core's rules: the slider handlers write `activeTank().angle = Number(angleIn.value)` and `.power = ...` directly (game.js input section), skipping the clamp in adjustAngle/adjustPower, and the 'can't act while animating or over' guard is repeated in the edge. (3) The edge is one 297-line module mixing rendering, particles, animation timing (performance.now) and input; proportionate for this task, but it is not split into a view and a controller. (4) Top-level names are generic (public/, core.js, game.js, server.js) and do not say 'artillery', 'shells' or 'tanks'. Boundaries are proportionate otherwise: no DTO or interface layers were added, which suits a two-hour build.

tests 6.0 The unit suite in test/core.test.js is substantive and mostly concrete. It asserts exact values: damageAt(0)===30, damageAt(BLAST_RADIUS/2)===15, damageAt(BLAST_RADIUS)===0, and hp going 100→70 after a centre blast. It covers boundaries and error-ish paths: out-of-world shells, step-limit timeout, hp clamped at 0, double KO as a draw, crater clamped at the bottom and at the world edges, and angle/power clamping. It also has a full-duel termination test. Gravity is checked by arc shape (up then down) rather than exact ballistics. The 'hits enemy tank directly' test (core.test.js, 'shell hits an enemy tank directly') searches power values and only asserts that some hit exists, which is loose. The server test covers 200/404/403/400 paths with real HTTP. Gaps: game.js is not imported by any test, so the fire-lock, turn passing after landing, keyboard controls, victory overlay, and restart are all unverified in automation. The 'headless Chrome playthrough' claimed in scorched-core-done.md is not in the repo as a test. The coverage claim of 98.5% in the done note therefore only reflects core.js and server.js. There is no end-to-end test of the assembled product, which caps the level mix.

creativity 6.5 The brief is done plainly, but the build adds several working touches a player would notice. Floating red damage numbers rise from a struck tank (public/game.js drawEffects, floaters). Explosions spawn a particle burst and a radial fireball (finishShot, drawEffects). Tanks re-settle into fresh craters (settleTanks, core.js). Shift+arrow makes coarse adjustments (game.js keydown handler). Health bars change colour at 50% and 25% (drawTank). A turn-marker triangle sits over the active tank. Shell trails and a 1.5x playback speed are included. A victory overlay has a Play again button, and R restarts. The stack is responsive, with a mobile layout in style.css. The screenshots 3-after-explosion-crater.png and 5-damage-and-hud.png show the damage number, the particle burst and the HP bars. None of these is a memorable mechanic such as wind or a trajectory preview, so the score stays in the solid-touches range rather than the memorable range. No interactive probe was needed, since these features are visible in the committed code and the delivered stills.

cleanliness 7.0 Naming is mostly clear (simulateShot, carveCrater, explode, settleTanks, damageAt) and core.js is a pure, readable module with no dead exports I could find. Duplication is not a concern: no jscpd or lint measurement was supplied, and the diff shows no copy-paste blocks. Deductions: package.json was rewritten wholesale in the diff (whitespace and line-ending churn), game.js carries a `window.__scorched` debug hook in production code, and game.js has a few inline magic values (36 particles, 0.5 s blast, 1.5x playback, 70 stars, `Math.random` colour per frame in drawEffects). maintainability 6.0 Pure game rules live in core.js and are unit-tested, with shared constants (MAX_HP, MAX_DAMAGE, BLAST_RADIUS, GRAVITY) named. The static server validates paths and handles errors at the boundary. Weaknesses: finishShot() is invoked from inside the render path (drawShell in game.js) and mutates game state, so a newcomer cannot change rendering without touching the rules flow. The crater radius is a hard-coded BLAST_RADIUS*0.6 inside explode() in core.js, and the hit-box offsets in insideTank() are unnamed. The fire/keydown handler mixes input, turn logic and rendering concerns. Functions are short, and nesting is shallow.

data 5.5 The canonical numbers have one declared home: public/core.js:4-13 holds MAX_HP, MAX_DAMAGE, BLAST_RADIUS, WIDTH/HEIGHT and the physics constants. game.js imports them (game.js:1-4) rather than redeclaring them, and the damage and HP values on screen are derived from core functions (damageAt, explode, hp). The task pins only 100 HP and 30 damage, and both are sourced from core.js (core.js:5-6, 'damageAt' at core.js:~118), so there is no honesty-of-sourcing problem. Shadow data is still present, though. index.html hardcodes the angle default 55 and power default 60 (index.html:36-41, including the '55°' and '60' output text), duplicating newGame's tanks[0].angle=55, tanks[1].angle=125 and power=60 in core.js:createTank/newGame. The player names and colours (#ff6b4a, #4ac2ff, 'Player 1/2') are repeated in index.html:18-27 and core.js newGame. The canvas 960x540 is hardcoded in index.html:34 alongside WIDTH/HEIGHT. These are the same values redeclared in several files, which is the drift pattern the criterion caps at 5. The score sits slightly above the cap because the rules and physics live in one module and the duplicated values are UI defaults, not rules. The data-layer split is clean: core.js is pure and tested, and game.js handles rendering and input. Some presentation logic remains in game.js (particles, floaters, HUD text), but it reads from state rather than parsing raw data.

ux 7.5 The desktop captures show a clear hierarchy: the title, a centred 'Player N's turn' line, two labelled HP bars with numeric values, a large battlefield, and a labelled Angle/Power control row with a prominent orange Fire button. The crater is visible after the shot (3-after-explosion-crater.png), and the damage floater '-26' with a particle burst reads well (5-damage-and-hud.png). The victory card ('Player 2 wins! 22 HP remaining.', 6-victory-screen.png) is clearly the focal point. Weaknesses: the shell trail is faint against the sky in 2-shell-in-flight.png, and the disabled Fire button is dim while the shell is in flight, which is intentional but low-contrast. accessibility 6.0 The markup has lang="en" (index.html:2), a single h1, range inputs wrapped in labels with visible text (index.html:37-43), and an aria-live turn indicator (index.html:16). Health is shown as real text, not only colour. Weaknesses: the canvas battlefield has only an aria-label and no text alternative for the state, the keyboard hint is small muted text (#8b95c0 on dark navy, about 0.85rem), and the disabled Fire button in the screenshots has very low contrast. The screenshots show the text itself is legible. mobile n/a No narrow-viewport screenshot was delivered to me. The mobile probe aged out undelivered, and .ololo/evidence/8-mobile.png was not among the attached images. The CSS does have a 640px media query that stacks the controls and HUD (style.css:52-58) and fluid canvas widths (style.css:30), but I cannot verify the rendering, so I am not scoring it.

product 7.5 The duel is complete and playable end to end. Turns alternate only after a shell lands (public/game.js finishShot, endTurn). Shells follow gravity (core.js simulateShot, GRAVITY=300). Explosions carve craters that persist in the height map (core.js carveCrater). Damage is 30 at the centre falling linearly to 0 at radius 60 (core.js damageAt). Each tank's HP is shown in a bar and a number, and a floating '-N' appears on hit. At 0 HP the game ends with a 'Player X wins!' overlay and shelling stops (core.js explode, game.js showVictory). Terrain is randomised per newGame. Controls are discoverable: sliders, an on-screen hint line, arrow keys, Space and R. The committed screenshots show the in-flight shell, a crater, a -26 hit on a 74 HP tank, and the victory card. Deductions: the crater edges are crude, leaving vertical steps and notches in the terrain (visible in .ololo/evidence/3-after-explosion-crater.png near x≈670–720). No screencast video was delivered, so the living-flow requirement and the crater/arc/damage/win sequence in motion are only shown by stills. The completion note's claims (22 tests, 98.5% coverage, headless playthrough) are consistent with the committed test files, but I did not run them.

There is no source, no tests, no AGENTS.md or README, and no .ololo/scorched-core-done.md. The dependency rule, inversion at the boundaries, testability of the core, and screaming top-level layout cannot be assessed because there is nothing to trace. The task's canonical game was not built in the captured state, so the criterion scores at the floor rather than null. If the player's work exists elsewhere (another branch or an uncommitted workspace), this verdict should be re-run against that code.

data 0.0 The repository at the task commit contains no files and no commits: list_files returned an empty tree, get_commit_log returned nothing, and read_file on AGENTS.md and README.md failed because HEAD does not resolve. There is therefore no source of truth for terrain, tank, or damage values, no shadow data to inspect, and no data-flow path from source to output. The criterion's requirements (single source of truth, no shadow data, separated data layer, honest sourcing) cannot be met by an absent implementation, so the score is 0.0 rather than null. get_task_stats also reports zero assistant messages and zero tool calls in the window, consistent with no work being committed.

The repository has no files (list_files returned an empty tree), no commits (get_commit_log is empty), and HEAD does not resolve (read_file on .ololo/scorched-core-done.md failed with 'invalid object name HEAD'). No artillery game, terrain, shell physics, craters, health, or win condition exists in the submission, so none of the four scenarios (taking a shot, the ground gives way, taking damage, last tank standing) can be met. The completion note the brief requires is also missing. get_task_stats shows 0 tool calls, 0 assistant messages and 0 tokens over a window of about 50 seconds, which fits a session that never started building. tests 6.5 The suite in test/game.test.js (18 node:test cases) is behavioural and mostly uses concrete expected values. It covers the arsenal table (test at ~line 129 pins damage and prices exactly), damage falloff, the $10-per-point payout and its cap by health removed, the $500 bonus, the best-of-three match end, double-KO draws, shop affordability and ordering, weapon stock fallback to Missile, MIRV apex split into five separately landing warheads, and wind bending the arc and shifting between turns. Boundaries and error paths are present: off-map misses, firing mid-flight, shopping outside the shop phase, and clamped angle and power. Weaknesses: (1) none of the browser code in public/src/main.js is exercised. Keydown-to-action mapping, the touch pad, shop key handling, the HUD and wind gauge rendering, and the game-over screen all have no automated check, so a regression there would pass. (2) Some assertions are loose, e.g. the direct-hit test asserts only `ev.hits[1] > 20` and the wind-shift check is `<= WIND_SHIFT + 1`. (3) The screencast artifacts for wind, shop and MIRV are not in the repo and were not delivered for judging here, so those flows are unverified by tests. Overall this is a solid logic-level suite with a clear gap at the integration level, which caps it under the top band.

product 7.0 The core arsenal is implemented and matches the pinned price list and economy. The code walks cleanly through every scenario: wind is applied as sideways acceleration on each shell (game.js update, `s.vx += state.wind * h`), a gauge shows direction and strength (main.js drawWind), and wind shifts by up to ±40 per turn (endTurn). The shop runs between rounds with per-player buying and Enter to finish (buy, finishShopping, shopKey). Buying decrements stock and falls back to Missile at zero (fire). MIRV splits into five separately falling warheads at apex (split, `vy >= 0`). Damage pays $10 per point actually removed, self-damage pays nothing, and a round win adds $500. Fresh terrain and repaired tanks are generated each round (startRound), and first to three wins takes the match. The screenshots (desktop.png, mobile.png, shop.png) show a readable HUD, a wind gauge, the shop with a 'Not enough money' note, and the $700 payout after a round win, all consistent with the code. Weaknesses: no screencast of the wind arc, the purchase-then-fire sequence, or the mid-air MIRV split appears in the evidence I was shown, so those living flows rest on code reading. Space also finishes the shop, which is a minor overlap with the fire key. The completion note is broadly accurate; its claim of 18 tests with 100% coverage was not verified here.

cleanliness 6.0 game.js is mostly well named (WIND_MAX, WIND_SHIFT, PAY_PER_POINT, ROUND_BONUS, WINS_NEEDED, weaponStats, endTurn), and the arsenal is a single table. Several smells remain. The wind-direction label (`w > 0 ? "→" : w < 0 ? "←" : ""`) and the stock label (`pl.weapon === "missile" ? "∞" : ...`) are each written out twice in main.js, in drawHud and updateReadout. The `Rounds a–b` score line appears in two places in main.js. The player stock literal `{ bertha: 0, nuke: 0, mirv: 0 }` (game.js createMatch) repeats SHOP by hand. The 'warhead' weapon key is special-cased through weaponStats. `press` has a 'w' alias that nothing documents. Some one-liners pack several statements per line (e.g. drawTank, onEvent's debris loop). No duplication tool measurements were supplied, so this rests on reading the code. maintainability 5.5 Pure rules are separated from the rendering layer, which helps. Several points make safe change harder. `dist(t.x, t.y - 6, ...)` appears twice in game.js (update and explode), and `y - 8` is the barrel pivot in muzzle(); both are unnamed offsets, and the previous review flagged the same pattern. The `update` loop nests a shell-advance step, a hit/split branch chain and an endTurn call inside a for-loop, so it is hard to follow. `explode` mixes crater carving, damage, tank settling and payout in one function. main.js has long drawing functions with unnamed layout numbers (HUD 220×86 boxes, offsets 14/42/68, shop row 52/44), drawShop runs about 35 lines, and gravity 500 for debris is inlined in step(). The debris spawn in onEvent uses a nested ternary for blast lifetime (`ev.radius > 60 ? (ev.radius > 100 ? 1.4 : 0.9) : 0.7`). Input handling is clear enough, and the touch pad reuses press(), which is a good choice.

ux 6.5 The shop modal (shop.png) has a clear hierarchy: a bold round-result headline, the shopper's name and cash, three weapon rows with price and stock, and a red 'not enough money' note. The in-battle view (desktop.png) puts the HP bars and the top-centre wind gauge in readable places, and the active player's panel is outlined. Weaknesses: the HUD text is small (about 12px, e.g. 'HP 100 ANG 45° PWR 60') and the round banner in desktop.png is so faint against the sky that it nearly disappears. The wind gauge is also small. Since the MIRV split and the wind-bent arc can only be judged from the screencast, which I did not receive, they are not scored here. accessibility 5.0 The page has lang="en", a title, and a real text readout below the canvas (#readout, aria-live="polite"), so game state is available as text on phones. Wind is shown as text ('WIND 14 →') as well as an arrow, so it is not carried by colour alone. The canvas itself is the only battlefield with just an aria-label, and the canvas HUD text is small. Contrast of the muted control text (#8d8aa6 on #0d1020) is adequate. The touch pad's left and right angle buttons are labelled 'Angle up' and 'Angle down' while their glyphs point left and right, so the labels do not match what they do. The gauge and banner in the screencast-free captures also have low contrast. mobile 7.5 mobile.png at narrow width shows no horizontal scrolling. The canvas scales to the viewport, and the readout line and large touch buttons (min-height 48px) replace the keyboard hints. The aim, weapon, FIRE, and new-match controls stack cleanly. The canvas HUD text is tiny at this width, but the readout line repeats the key values legibly. The shop's touch row is only shown in the shop phase, and no narrow capture of the shop was delivered, so that part is unverified.

Thibaut de Sany evaluated by Architecture on Task 1 +18 points
architecture 6.5 The dependency rule mostly holds. public/src/game.js (the core) has no imports at all, so nothing at the centre names a DOM, canvas, or framework type. The edge, public/src/main.js, imports the core and drives it through plain state objects, and the core's rules run under node:test with no browser. Three things hold the score back. (1) The wall clock is still at the centre: createMatch defaults to `seed = Date.now()` (public/src/game.js, createMatch signature, in commit 6f99855). The previous review asked for exactly this to move to the edge, and it is unfixed. The browser passes an explicit seed, so the impact is limited to the default. (2) main.js is about 440 lines and mixes input, animation, particle and debris simulation, HUD and shop drawing, the touch pad, and a text readout. Some round-flow decisions, such as the banner text built from shotHits in onShotOver, live at the edge. (3) The tree is flat and the core is one file that holds terrain, ballistics, economy, shop, and match flow. That is proportionate for a task this size, but the names say little about the domain beyond game.js. Boundaries are otherwise drawn with restraint: no interfaces or DTO layers, which suits a competition build.

data 5.0 The core dataset is well centralised. `WEAPONS`, `SHOP`, `WINS_NEEDED`, `ROUND_BONUS` and `PAY_PER_POINT` all live in public/src/game.js, and the economy and damage paths read from them (`buy`, `endTurn`, `explode`, `damageAt`). The shop canvas also takes its prices from `WEAPONS[key].price` (main.js drawShop). Two shadow copies of the price list undercut this: the touch pad in public/index.html hard-codes "$750", "$2500" and "$1500" in its button labels, and AGENTS.md repeats the full arsenal table with prices. These copies match today but would drift if the table changed, which is the redeclaration the criterion caps at 5.0. Separately, main.js hard-codes `W = 960, H = 540` (main.js top) and duplicates the canvas size in index.html's CSS (800px width against a 960px canvas), so canvas geometry is also redeclared. Sourcing is honest: every shown number traces back to the pinned table or the economy constants, and the wind, MIRV and terrain values are all computed. The stale .ololo/tmp scratch files are still in the tree. Logic/presentation separation is good: game.js is pure and main.js only reads state. No probes were needed; the verdict rests on the code.

creativity 7.0 Several working extras go past the brief. The wind gauge is a top-centre arrow whose length tracks strength (public/src/main.js drawWind), and the clouds drift with the wind (step(), c.x update). The aim guide is a dashed line whose length scales with power (drawAimGuide). Each round rolls fresh parallax scenery (makeScenery). Tanks dig into the hill (dig() in game.js), dead tanks smoke (drawSmoke), and blasts throw debris. The banner reports 'Hit −N (+$N)' so the damage-to-money link is visible on every shot (onShotOver). The shop greys out unaffordable weapons, shows 'own N' counts, adds plain-language blurbs ('splits into 5 at apex'), and shows a 'Not enough money' note (shopKey, drawShop). A phone layout adds a touch pad with hold-to-repeat aim buttons and a text readout twin (index.html pad/readout, main.js pointer handlers). Tab cycles only owned weapons and falls back to Missile when stock runs out (cycleWeapon, fire in game.js). None of this is a signature mechanic, and I did not see the screencast or run a probe, so the judgement rests on code and the delivered stills. The shop and HUD stills show the extras rendering.

ux 7.0 The new desktop capture has a clear hierarchy. Wind sits centred at the top in yellow ('Wind ◀◀◀ 75', 'Round 1', 'P1's turn'), and each player's HUD is in its own corner with name, $, HP, weapon, angle and power. The shop overlay is well organised: a bold 'P1 takes round 1' heading, the shopper's cash in their colour, one row per weapon with blast, damage and price, and a clear 'Done (Enter)' button. Weaknesses: the disabled weapon chips and unaffordable prices are so dim they are hard to read, and the 'Wind ◀◀◀ 75' unit is not explained, so the magnitude reads as arbitrary. Only the aim-phase view was captured in motion-free stills, so the bent arc is not visible here. accessibility 5.0 Improved over the earlier build: the desktop capture has real HTML buttons with text labels ('◀', '▶', 'angle', '▼', '▲', 'power', 'FIRE', '1 Missile ∞', '2 Big Bertha x0') and a text keys line, so controls are not canvas-only. Wind is encoded by arrow glyphs and a number, not colour alone. However, the disabled weapon buttons and the unaffordable shop prices (grey on near-black) fail contrast. The shop panel also dims the game world heavily, and the HUD and wind are still canvas text, so there is no evidence of an ARIA live region for turn or winner announcements. I cannot confirm the markup from the captures alone. mobile 6.5 The 375px capture shows no horizontal scroll and no clipped HUD. The HUD now wraps into a left column with the wind and round block on the right, which fixes the clipping seen in the earlier build. Touch controls are present (arrow buttons, angle/power, a full-width FIRE button, weapon chips), and they look tap-sized. The weak points are that the canvas shrinks to roughly 375×110px, leaving a lot of empty space above and below the terrain, and the small 'Keys:' hint text is hard to read. The stills do not show gameplay in motion.

cleanliness 6.0 The code is readable and the old duplicated blast state in main.js is gone: game.blasts is drained into one render list in pump() (public/main.js, pump). The `text()` helper removes repeated ctx.font/fillStyle/textAlign setup. Against that, `endRound` in public/game.js uses `w = dead[0] === dead[1] ? null : Number(dead[0])`, a cryptic way to say 'the other tank' (Number(true) === 1). The hit-test offset `t.y - 6` is repeated in explode and advance. Shop layout uses inline `190 + i * 32`, `340`, `560`, `620` in drawShop. There is no dead code I could see, and no duplication tool output was supplied, so the duplication assessment rests on reading the code. maintainability 5.5 Several magic values are unnamed: the wind drift `* 60` and `Math.round((g.rng() - 0.5) * 60)` in finishShot, the crater `w.blast * 0.7` in explode, and the health colour threshold `t.health > 30` in drawTank. `fire` mixes a side effect into a condition (`if (weapon !== 'missile' && --p.stock[weapon] <= 0)`). `newGame` never initialises `shopper`, which only `endRound` sets. Tank drawing still uses raw offsets (-8, -10, -34, -40), which the previous review asked to name, and that is not done. The gameplay logic is split into small functions (advance, split, explode, endRound), which helps, and the tests are readable, with a useful `shellOn`/`killRound` helper. Overall a newcomer can follow it, but the drawing and tuning constants need naming before the code is safe to change.

product 5.0 The committed code covers every scenario on paper. Wind is rolled per round and re-rolled per turn with a ±30 drift, and applied as acceleration each step (public/game.js advance(), ~line 135), so arcs bend. The shop is gated to the shop phase, buy() checks price and money, stock falls back to Missile at zero, and the HUD lists weapons. MIRV splits into five warheads at the apex (split(), vy>=0). Damage pays $10/point to the owner, with no self-pay, and the $500 bonus and first-to-three win are wired in endRound(). Startround() gives fresh terrain and repaired tanks. Against that, the attached screenshots are from the previous artillery build (HUD shows 'Angle 45° Power 50' and 'R new duel', with no wind, money or round display), so they do not show this build. The required screencast of wind, purchase-then-fire and the mid-air MIRV split was not delivered, so none of the living flows is verified in motion. The judgement rests on code reading, which is sound but unconfirmed in play.

tests 6.0 The suite is honest and asserts concrete values for most new rules. Examples: damageAt(0, WEAPONS.nuke)=100 and damageAt(65, WEAPONS.nuke)=50 (test/game.test.js, 'damage fades with distance per weapon'); money equals lost*10 with self-damage paying nothing ('hit pays $10 per point'); round bonus of 10+500 with score and shop phase ('round win'); a draw when both tanks die; buy() refusing at $510 against a $2500 nuke and leaving $750 after a bertha+mirv purchase; stock decrement and fallback to missile; and wind bending the arc by comparing landing distances at wind 60, 0 and -60. Weaknesses: the MIRV split test only asserts blasts.length is between 1 and 5 (test/game.test.js, 'MIRV splits...'), so it would not catch a split that yields the wrong number of warheads at the wrong moment. The 'bought weapon blasts' test checks only the nuke's radius and that the tank dies, not its exact 100 damage. The wind-variance test relies on a seed and a loose 'seen.size > 1' check. Nothing covers the main.js layer (key dispatch, HUD wind label, shop/over overlays, the 1-4 weapon keys, the Enter/Space shop-advance keys), so the screen behaviour the task asks for is unverified by automation. There is also no scripted end-to-end match across several rounds, and no coverage report. The previous verdict flagged these same gaps and they are still open. The wind and shop/MIRV flows are required to be verified by a screencast, and the only delivered artifacts are still PNGs.

data 8.0 The arsenal and economy live in one declared place: the WEAPONS table (blast, damage, price) and SHOP_KEYS in public/game.js:9-19, with ROUND_BONUS, PAY_PER_POINT, ROUNDS_TO_WIN and MAX_WIND in CONFIG (game.js:3-6). Prices match the pinned table (Bertha 750, Nuke 2500, MIRV 1500, Missile free). Gameplay reads these values: explode() pays PAY_PER_POINT and endRound() pays ROUND_BONUS (game.js:~96-125). The shop and HUD in main.js derive names, prices, blast and damage from WEAPONS and CONFIG (main.js shop panel and drawHud), so there is no shadow price list in the presentation layer. No mock or sample data ships, terrain is generated fresh per round by startRound(), and nothing is fetched or fabricated. Remaining weaknesses: the tests re-state economy literals (750, 510, 2500, and `* 10` in the hit-pays test) rather than deriving them from WEAPONS/CONFIG, which is a drift risk. The tank-centre offset `6` is still a literal in explode() and advance() (game.js), and the canvas size in index.html is still hardcoded rather than taken from CONFIG, as my earlier verdict asked. Those were flagged before and are not fixed in this diff, so I am not charging them twice.

architecture 6.0 The dependency rule still holds at the core. public/game.js has no import lines (its first line is `export const CONFIG`, game.js:1), so nothing at the center names a DOM, server, or file type. Randomness is injected as `g.rng` (game.js startRound/newGame, wind rolled via `rollWind(g.rng)`), so the core is deterministic under test. The edge, public/main.js:1, depends inward on game.js, and the rules are testable alone under node:test with no server or browser (test/game.test.js). The prior review's structural advice is largely unaddressed. Terrain, physics (advance/step), combat (explode/damageAt), economy (buy, endRound payouts), and turn/shop flow (doneShopping, finishShot) all still live in one module, so the core grew without separating those rings. Module names remain generic (public/, server.js, test/, game.js, main.js) rather than naming the domain (terrain, shell, tank, arsenal, match). The shared geometry the earlier review flagged is still duplicated: the tank hull offsets (`t.y - 6`, `t.y - 10`, `t.y - 8`) recur in game.js and main.js drawTank. The edge also reaches into core state: pump() in main.js drains `game.blasts.splice(0)`, so the renderer mutates a core-owned event queue rather than receiving events as plain data. The shop panel and HUD text are drawn from raw core fields in main.js. Scale fits a two-hour competition build, so no extra rings are charged, but the single-module core is now carrying four responsibilities.

creativity 6.8 Several small extras are present in the code and covered by node:test: wind drifts between turns (game.js finishShot, clamped to ±MAX_WIND), a wind indicator whose arrow count scales with strength (main.js windLabel), a fading shell trail (main.js pump/trail), MIRV warheads spread sideways at the apex (game.js split), and a keyboard-driven shop with per-weapon stock counts and a 'Missile ∞' label (main.js drawShop, weaponLabel). A draw is handled when both tanks die in one round (game.js endRound). These are genuine end-user touches. They are not a memorable showpiece, and the delivered screenshots predate this change (they show no wind HUD), so the visual behaviour is unverified. No screencast was delivered, so I did not register a probe.

ux n/a No screenshot delivered: the earlier request for a 1280px capture of the duel's start state is still open with no artifacts. Visual hierarchy of the HUD, banner and game-over text cannot be assessed from code alone. accessibility n/a No screenshot delivered, so contrast cannot be checked. Markup does show lang="en" and an aria-label on the canvas (index.html:4-5, 10), and the controls are real text in <kbd> elements (index.html:31-35). Those are supporting only; the criterion depends on seeing the render. mobile n/a No narrow-viewport capture was delivered, so overflow and touch sizing cannot be verified. The CSS has a responsive canvas width and a flex-wrap controls row (index.html:14, 17), but that is not a rendered check.

data 7.5 Game rules and state have one home. Canonical numbers are declared once in src/game.js (START_HEALTH=100, MAX_DAMAGE=30, BLAST_RADIUS=40, GRAVITY, TANK_HIT_RADIUS), and damageAt/explode/fire read them from there. Terrain is produced by a single seeded generator (generateTerrain/createGame) and consumed by main.js via game.ground, so nothing is fetched or fabricated and there is no mock dataset. Game logic is isolated in a DOM-free module, with main.js limited to input, loop and drawing. Deductions are for minor duplication: main.js hardcodes W=960/H=540 (game.js defaults repeat them, and the CSS aspect-ratio repeats them again); the tank geometry offsets (-6 hit centre in game.js vs -8 turret centre in drawTank) are magic numbers split across both files; and .ololo/tmp/ scratch files sit in the tree at the task commit. Scenery randomness in main.js is decorative and does not affect game data.

tests 6.0 The suite (test/game.test.js, 11 tests) has concrete assertions that map well to the scenarios. Examples: damageAt returns exactly 30 at the centre, 15 at half radius and 0 at the edge (test/game.test.js ~L60-65); a shell that is fired and lands passes the turn to player 2 (~L36-48); a miss off the side still passes the turn (~L50-56); the crater depth equals y+BLAST_RADIUS (~L60-62); a direct hit on the enemy explodes on contact (~L107-115); and last-tank-standing and the draw case are both covered (~L93-110). Edge cases are covered too: angle and power clamping at 0/180 and 0/100, firing while a shell is airborne, and the seeded terrain being reproducible and on screen. Deductions: (1) all tests are unit-level against game.js. Nothing exercises main.js (input handling, the HUD health display, the banner, the game-over overlay) or the assembled page, so the 'health visible on screen' and 'controls discoverable' requirements have no automated check. (2) The gravity assertion at ~L40 is `assert.ok(g.shell === null || g.shell.vy > vy0)`, which passes vacuously if the shell has already landed, so it does not verify gravity in that step. (3) The claimed 100% line/branch coverage is asserted in AGENTS.md and the done note but is not shown by any report I could check. No tests cover invalid or hostile inputs to fire/adjust beyond the basic clamp, and nothing tests a crater carved next to a tank on a slope beyond one case.

product 7.5 All four scenarios are implemented in the committed code and the canonical numbers match. Shots arc under gravity (game.js:GRAVITY, fixed 1/240 s substeps in update()), and the turn passes only on landing (land(), game.js ~L96). Craters persist in state.ground via explode() (game.js ~L118). Damage is 30 at centre, linear to 0 at BLAST_RADIUS=40 (damageAt, game.js ~L110), and health shows in the HUD and above each tank (main.js drawHud/drawTank). A zero-health tank sets state.winner, fire() is blocked, and the game-over overlay names the winner or a draw (main.js drawGameOver). Terrain is freshly seeded per duel (main.js newDuel with Math.random). Controls are shown on the page under the canvas (index.html), so they are discoverable. The completion note's claims match the code. Two rough edges keep this from a higher score: pressing R mid-duel discards the game with no confirmation, and there is no sound or confirmation on the direct hit. I did not register a screencast probe, so how the animation plays in motion is unverified and the score rests on code reading.

creativity 7.5 Several working extras go past the brief, each visible in the committed code. The aim guide is a dashed line whose length tracks power (src/main.js drawAimGuide, only drawn on the active idle tank). Shift nudges angle and power in ×5 steps (src/main.js keydown handler; index.html shows the hint). Shells leave a fading trail, and blasts spawn debris and an expanding fireball (src/main.js step/onLanded/drawBlasts). Wrecked tanks keep sending up smoke (src/main.js drawSmoke). Each duel gets a fresh parallax sky with stars, a sun glow and two ridge layers (src/main.js makeScenery/drawSky). The banner reports the damage dealt ('Hit −N!' or 'Miss!'), and a draw has its own game-over text (src/main.js drawGameOver). Each is a small, real usability or presentation touch, and none obviously breaks the core. They fall short of a memorable single mechanism, and I could not confirm them in a screencast since no delivered artifact was shown to me.

cleanliness 7.0 The code is largely free of dead code and copy-paste blocks, and names mostly say what things are (`damageAt`, `groundAt`, `muzzle`, `explode`, `land`). The main deductions are small repeated literals and a few dense one-liners. The tank's centre offset `t.y - 6` is repeated in game.js (the shell-hit check in `update` and the `dist` call in `explode`) and in the tests. The shell guard `state.shell || state.winner !== null` is duplicated in `adjust` and `fire`. The debris gravity `500`, the blast duration `0.7`, the banner time `1.6`, the debris count `26` and the sun coordinates `720, 300` are inline. `main.js` line ~44 `banner = msg && {...}` is clever rather than clear. No measured duplication or lint data was supplied, so this rests on reading the code. maintainability 6.5 Game rules are isolated in a pure, DOM-free `game.js` with 11 tests, which makes the rules safe to change. Nesting stays shallow and functions are short. The weaker spots are in `main.js`: the blast, debris and banner timings are unnamed magic numbers, and `drawHud`, `drawTank` and `onLanded` pack several statements per line, so they take more effort to read. `createGame` defaults (960×540) duplicate the `W`/`H` constants in `main.js`. Boundary handling is reasonable: out-of-bounds shells count as misses and the `Math.max(0, …)` clamps guard health and terrain.

Thibaut de Sany evaluated by Architecture on Task 0 +17 points
architecture 7.5 The dependency rule mostly holds. src/game.js is the core and has no imports at all, so it names no framework, DOM, or file path. The edge is src/main.js, which imports game.js (line 2) and never the reverse; the tests import game.js directly (test/game.test.js:2-4). Randomness is injected: generateTerrain takes an rng function and createGame takes a plain seed, so terrain is reproducible and the core is testable alone with 11 plain node:test cases and no server, DOM, or browser. Dings: (1) game.js:createGame defaults `seed = Date.now()` (line ~38), which puts the wall clock at the centre, when the edge (main.js newDuel, which already passes Math.random) should be the only source. (2) Screen dimensions (960x540) are duplicated as defaults in game.js and as W/H constants in main.js instead of being declared once at the edge. (3) main.js owns some rule-adjacent text logic (onLanded builds the banner from hit totals and winner), which is minor presentation but sits next to rules. Structure: the tree is flat (index.html, src/, test/) and names generic roles (game.js, main.js) rather than the artillery concepts (terrain, ballistics, tanks). For a two-hour single-file-logic task, two modules with no interfaces is proportionate: no DTO rings, no port interfaces, no over-engineering. Scoring it a 7.5 rather than higher for the wall-clock default, the generic naming, and the duplicated dimensions.

cleanliness 6.5 Names are mostly descriptive (stepShell, blastDamage, carveCrater, launchVelocity) and the modules are split sensibly. The main weakness is the tank-anchor offset `y - 8` (and `x ± 16`, radius 11, `Math.PI` arcs) repeated as literals across game.js and render.js instead of one named constant. The explosion lifetime is also duplicated: `EXPLOSION_TIME = 0.7` in game.js:9 and the literal `0.7` in render.js drawExplosion. game.js ends with an odd re-export `export { BLAST_RADIUS, CRATER_RADIUS };` that only serves render-side imports from the wrong module. No analysis measurements were supplied, so duplication is judged by reading, and the duplication is small and local rather than pasted blocks. maintainability 6.5 Functions are short and the pure game/physics logic is separated from the DOM and unit-tested with node:test, which makes safe change feasible. Boundaries are handled sensibly (out-of-map shells end the turn, health clamps at 0, tanks settle after terrain changes, a draw is handled). Weaknesses: the magic geometry numbers (8, 22, 14, 42, 54, 16) are not named, so a newcomer must reverse-engineer the tank layout from several files; the tank vertical offset must be kept in sync across hitsTank, barrelTip, explode and drawTank; and `drawTank` and `drawHud` mix several responsibilities. The trail array is also unbounded per shot. Nesting is shallow throughout.
02:39 PM +7m 43s
J
jelmerbonne evaluated by Architecture on Task 0 +17 points
architecture 7.5 The core is genuinely separable from the framework. The pure modules import nothing: src/physics.js and src/terrain.js have no imports, and src/rng.js is standalone. src/game.js imports only those three (game.js:1-3) and never touches the DOM or canvas. Dependencies point inward: render.js (game.js:1, physics.js:2) and main.js are the edge and import the core, never the reverse. The business rules are testable alone under node:test with no server or browser (test/game.test.js, test/terrain.test.js). Proportion is sensible for a two-hour build: seven small modules, no interfaces, DTOs or DI containers. Deductions: (1) game.js:31 `Math.random()` as a default seed reaches into the wall clock/randomness from the core instead of having it injected at the edge. (2) Geometry is duplicated across the boundary: the barrel-tip and tank-body offset (`tank.y - 8`, BARREL) is computed in game.js:37-40 and hitsTank (game.js:58) and then re-hardcoded in render.js drawTank (`tank.y - 8`, `tank.y - 42`), so a rule change must be made in two places. (3) game.js re-exports BLAST_RADIUS and CRATER_RADIUS (game.js:110) while render imports BLAST_RADIUS from physics, so the public surface of the core is muddled. (4) The top-level tree (rng, terrain, physics, game, render, main, server.js) is partly domain-named but still reads as a generic module list rather than naming tanks, shells or duels.

creativity 5.8 The build goes a little past the brief with several small, working touches, but none is memorable. Extras I could confirm in the committed code: Shift for fine angle/power adjustment (src/main.js applyHeldKeys, rate 8 vs 40); an on-screen control hint line in the HUD that makes the controls discoverable (src/render.js drawHud); an active-turn pointer triangle above the current tank (src/render.js drawTank, isActive); a fading two-ring explosion animation (src/render.js drawExplosion); tanks that slide down when the ground is carved out from under them (src/game.js settle, called from explode); a dotted shell trail (src/render.js drawShell); a draw outcome when both tanks die (src/game.js endTurn, render.js drawGameOver); and Enter to restart. Each is sensible and wired in, but together they are modest. Nothing is a standout mechanic or presentation idea. No screencast probe was run, so the visual polish of these touches is unverified; I scored from code alone. Core scenarios appear implemented, so no cap applies.

ux n/a No screenshot delivered. The interactive probe aged out undelivered and the participant moved on, so I could not see the HUD, hierarchy, or the in-game states. Markup alone (render.js HUD and game-over text drawn on canvas) does not show how it reads. accessibility n/a No screenshot delivered, so contrast could not be checked against the actual rendering. The HTML has lang="en" and a title (index.html:2-4), but the HUD and game-over text are painted on a canvas with no DOM text alternative, which I could not evaluate visually. mobile n/a No narrow-viewport capture was delivered, so horizontal scrolling and touch sizing could not be observed. The stylesheet has only a fixed-aspect canvas rule with min(100vw, 177.7vh) and no media queries, and the game relies on keyboard controls, so I could not judge the 375px view.

tests 5.5 The two suites (test/game.test.js, test/terrain.test.js) use concrete assertions and cover most of the scenarios at unit level: blast falloff at 0/half/edge (game.test.js:9-15), gravity arc (:22-27), one shell at a time and turn passing after landing (:38-48), crater persisting after landing (:50-61), off-map miss ending the turn (:63-73), damage to a near tank (:75-82), duel ending with a winner and fire locked (:84-93), draw (:95-103), and direct tank hit detonation (:105-112). Weaknesses: several assertions are loose. The gravity test only checks `s.vy > v.vy`, which holds for any positive gravity and does not test the arc shape (:26). The crater test checks only that the ground changed, not that the hole sits where the shell landed (:57). The falling-ground check is just `target.y > 0` (:81). Nothing exercises render.js, main.js (input handling, Enter restart, held-key loop) or server.js, so the assembled product is never tested. The suite is pure unit tests with no integration or end-to-end run of Game plus input plus render. No coverage report was produced or delivered, so coverage is unmeasured despite the `coverage:` line in AGENTS.md. Per the level-mix rule, the lack of any assembled-product test caps this at 7, and the loose assertions and untested UI layer pull it lower.

product 7.0 The code implements every scenario in the brief. Angle and power are adjustable with arrow keys (game.js adjust, main.js applyHeldKeys), Space fires, and the shell follows gravity (physics.js stepShell, GRAVITY=300). The turn passes only after the shell lands or leaves the map (game.js endTurn, miss). Impacts carve a persistent circular crater (terrain.js carveCrater, called from game.js explode). Blast damage is 30 at the centre, falling linearly to 0 at BLAST_RADIUS=50 (physics.js blastDamage). Health is shown in a top HUD with numbers and bars (render.js drawHud). A zero-health tank ends the duel with a winner or draw, and the game-over overlay blocks further fire (game.js endTurn, fire guard). Terrain is seeded from a random seed per duel (game.js constructor). Controls are discoverable from an on-screen hint line. Unit tests cover damage falloff, crater behaviour, turn flow, and game over. Weaknesses: the visuals are basic (flat gradient sky, simple rectangle-and-arc tanks, no hill 'dug-in' feel). Space is not filtered for key repeat, so holding it can fire again right after a landing. The hit test for tanks uses an approximate circle. I could not see a screencast in the evidence, so the on-screen flow (arc, crater, damage, win) is verified from code only, not from play.

data 6.0 The task pins two canonical numbers, and both have a single declaration: START_HEALTH = 100 in src/game.js:8 and MAX_DAMAGE = 30 in src/physics.js:2. Render reads START_HEALTH from game.js for the health bar (render.js:1, 'HP' bar width), so the values are not redeclared. The terrain is generated from a seeded RNG (src/rng.js, src/terrain.js) with no external dataset, so there is nothing to fabricate and no mock data ships. Separation is reasonable: game.js holds the pure state machine, physics.js and terrain.js hold the math, and render.js only reads game state. Tests are pure and cover the model. Deductions: EXPLOSION_TIME = 0.7 is private in game.js:10, while render.js:44 hardcodes `e.age / 0.7`, a drifting copy of the same timing that would desync the visual fade if one changed. The tank hull offset `8` is repeated as a magic number across game.js (barrelTip, hitsTank, explode) and render.js (drawTank) rather than shared as one constant. Neither is a pinned-dataset issue, but both are shadow copies of declared values.

ux 6.5 The desktop capture shows a clear layout: a readable terrain-and-sky scene, tanks with a visible barrel and an active-turn marker, per-player HP/angle/power across the top, and a centred 'Player 1's turn' line. The HP and angle readouts are legible at a glance. The screenshot only covers the idle start state, so I could not judge shell flight, crater, damage, or the win screen from stills. The controls hint at the bottom is clear. accessibility 3.0 The page has lang="en" and a title (file:public/index.html:2-6), but the game is a single canvas with no ARIA role, label, or text alternative (file:public/index.html:12). All HUD text, HP, turn state and the winner message are drawn into the canvas, so screen readers get none of it. Light text on the dark-to-orange gradient is generally readable at desktop size, but the 14px HUD text becomes very small when the canvas is scaled down. Controls are keyboard-only with no on-screen buttons. mobile 3.0 The 375px capture is not usable. The canvas is scaled to the full viewport width, so the 800px-internal HUD is clipped: the 'Angle' and 'Power' readouts for P2 are cut off at the right edge, and the controls line ('R new duel') is truncated. The HUD text shrinks to about 6px and is hard to read. There is no media query and no touch controls (keyboard only), so a phone player cannot fire or adjust angle/power. The fluid width (min(100vw,177vh)) avoids page-level horizontal scroll, which keeps the score above the floor.

cleanliness 7.5 Naming is mostly clear: CONFIG holds the tunables, and functions like carve, explode, endShot, damageAt and surfaceY say what they do. There is no dead code in the committed files, and the duplication is small. The main blemishes are the tank-centre offset `t.y - 6` repeated in explode (game.js ~L59) and step (game.js ~L104), and the same `Math.hypot(t.x - x, t.y - 6 - y)` pattern, which should be one named helper. main.js has two overlapping blast states (`game.blast` and the local `blast`/`lastBlast` pair, main.js ~L8-9, ~L117-121), which makes the render-side bookkeeping harder to read. The Enter and r keys both call newGame through duplicated handlers. Nothing here is copy-pasted at scale, and no duplication tool was run, so this is a read-based judgement. maintainability 6.5 Game logic is separated from rendering and has unit tests covering gravity, craters, damage falloff, turn passing and the win condition (test/game.test.js). Functions are short and nesting is shallow. The server rejects path traversal and returns 404 on read failures. Weaknesses: several magic numbers are unnamed in the code (the muzzle offset 14 and the -10 barrel origin in fire(), the 12/8/24/40 tank sizes and the 16 barrel length in main.js drawTank, and the 40-pixel health-bar width). The tank hitbox offset is repeated instead of named. draw() and drawTank() mix layout constants with drawing calls. Steering is handled through the `dir` sign flip in KEYS, which needs a comment to follow. A newcomer could change this safely, but would have to hunt for the magic values.

architecture 7.5 The dependency rule holds where it matters. public/game.js has no imports at all: it does not touch the DOM, canvas, timers, or the server, and time enters only as an explicit `dt` argument to `step(g, dt)` (game.js:~93). Randomness is injected via `newGame(rng = Math.random)` and `mulberry32(seed)` (game.js:~11, ~25), so the terrain is seedable and testable. The edge is a separate layer: public/main.js imports inward (`import { CONFIG, newGame, adjust, fire, step } from './game.js'`, main.js:1) and owns the canvas drawing, keyboard mapping, animation, and the rAF loop. server.js is a plain static file server that touches nothing in the core. The core is testable alone: test/game.test.js drives fire/step/damage/turn logic with no browser or server, and the tests pass by construction. Deductions: (1) game.js is a single flat module mixing terrain generation, projectile physics, crater carving, damage, and turn flow. That is proportionate for a two-hour build, but the seams between those responsibilities are not drawn. (2) The core carries presentation geometry: CONFIG.W/H = 800x450 and the canvas size are shared with the renderer, and `TANK_X`, `PAD`, and the tank sprite offsets (`cy - 10`, `t.y - 6`) are duplicated between game.js and main.js rather than owned in one place. (3) The top-level names (`game.js`, `main.js`) describe mechanisms, not the domain (terrain, shells, tanks, duel), so the tree says little about what the system does. (4) Blast-animation state (`blast`, `lastBlast`, BLAST_TIME) lives in main.js and is inferred by diffing `game.blast` against the previous value, which is a small leak of game-event detection into the edge. There are no interfaces or DTOs, and none are needed at this scale, so the design avoids over-engineering.

data 7.5 The canonical numbers live in one place: CONFIG in public/game.js (START_HEALTH 100, MAX_DAMAGE 30, BLAST_RADIUS 40, W/H, GRAVITY). Rendering reads them from CONFIG (main.js health bar uses CONFIG.START_HEALTH; W/H are destructured from CONFIG), and damage comes from damageAt(), so health and damage match the spec. The game logic is isolated in a pure module (game.js) with no DOM access, and main.js only renders and handles input, which is a clean data-layer split. Terrain is generated from a seeded or Math.random RNG per duel, so there is no shipped sample data. Deductions: index.html hardcodes the canvas size as width=800 height=450, which duplicates CONFIG.W/H (shadow copy of a dimension). The tank hit offset of 6 and the 'hypot(t.x - x, t.y - 6 - y)' expression are repeated in explode() and step() in game.js rather than named as a constant. Neither is a dataset drift, but both are minor duplication. No external data is fetched or fabricated, and the task pins no external dataset.

product 6.5 The core duel loop is implemented and coherent. Turn-based aim and fire, gravity-driven shell arc, terrain crater carving, distance-faded damage (30 to 0), per-tank health bars, turn passing after landing, and a win screen all exist in code. Scenarios are covered at the logic level, but the rules are thin and I did not see a screencast of the running game, so visual and feel claims are unverified. Deductions for the minor gaps listed in the feedback.

tests 6.5 The suite (test/game.test.js, 104 lines, 11 node:test cases) uses concrete assertions on game state rather than just running code: exact health values, clamp bounds (angle 0..90, power 5..100), `damageAt(0)===30` and `damageAt(BLAST_RADIUS)===0`, turn switching, and a no-op check for fire during flight. It covers the four scenarios at the logic level: arc under gravity (vy increases after one step), crater persistence (terrain only rises, `every(y >= before)`), damage falloff, and last-tank-standing ending the duel with the winner set. Weaknesses: (1) no test exercises public/main.js (input mapping, Enter/R restart, HUD/win overlay, render loop), so the discoverable controls and the visible health bars are unverified; (2) the damage-fade test checks only three sample distances, and the 'close blast' test uses a hand-placed shell at the hitbox, so the distance gradient is not really specified; (3) there is no integration test that plays a full duel from newGame through several alternating shots to a win; (4) no coverage report was delivered, so coverage is claimed in AGENTS.md but not shown. The tests are honest (no skips, no tautologies), and the level mix is proportionate to a small task, but the un-tested rendering/input layer and thin edge-case coverage keep this below the mid-high range.

creativity 6.0 The build goes a little past the brief with several small, working touches, but nothing memorable. Restart via Enter/R on the win overlay (main.js KEYS, game.js newGame) lets a player begin a fresh duel without reloading. The blast is an animated expanding fireball that fades over 0.5s (main.js BLAST_TIME, draw()). Health bars switch from green to red below 30 HP (main.js drawTank). A ▼ marker shows whose turn it is, and the barrel tilts toward the screen side for each player's facing (main.js KEYS ArrowLeft/ArrowRight). A destroyed tank greys out (main.js drawTank, health ? COLORS : '#444'). The on-screen control legend and HUD readouts (angle, power, HP) make the controls discoverable. Tanks are levelled into the terrain so they sit flat in their dugouts (game.js newGame, PAD loop). Nothing here is a standout feature such as wind, trajectory preview, or sound. Per the brief, the core flow is intact, so this is a modest extra-mile build. I could not review the screencast probe, so the animation and feel are judged from code only.
