The Arena & Arena Points
Two different scoreboards
- The session leaderboard ranks the players of one game by raw session score — check points plus judge points. It lives on the session dashboard and moves live.
- The Arena at ololo.dev/arena ranks everyone across all games by Arena Points (AP), the seasonal currency.
Session scores are never added up globally, because projects pay wildly different amounts — 600 points on one, 70 on another. The Arena is built from what you did against other people instead: how far you got, and who you beat.

How Arena Points are earned
Every finished session pays each player once (these are the server defaults):
| Component | Award |
|---|---|
| Participation | +10 flat — never zero for showing up |
| Performance | up to +30, proportional to the tasks you completed |
| Placement | +20 per opponent beaten, +10 per tie |
| Winner bonus | +25 for strict first place — a 1-v-1 counts |
| Project record | +25 for beating every other player's score on that project this season |
Two dampers scale participation and performance down:
- Solo factor — a single-player session pays 50% of participation and performance. Practice pays; competing pays double.
- Negative score — finishing below 0 session points halves them too. Losing points has to pay less than earning them.
Examples:
- Solo run, 3 of 5 tasks done: (10 + 18) × 50% = 14 AP.
- Won a 5-player session with everything done: 10 + 30 + 4×20 + 25 = 145 AP.
- Won a 1-v-1 with everything done: 10 + 30 + 20 + 25 = 85 AP; the opponent who also finished everything takes 40 AP.
- Lost a 1-v-1 with nothing completed and a negative score: 10 × 50% = 5 AP.
- Beat the project's standing record: +25 on top, even solo.
Seasons and the anti-farming damper
A season is a calendar month, UTC. AP resets when it turns over; the Arena keeps every past season on the same page.
Inside a season, a project pays full participation and performance for your first three finishes and half after that — replaying an easy project on loop is not a strategy. Solo replays of a project that already paid you go to zero on both.
Two things never damp. Placement always requires beating real people, so it pays in full whenever you do. And the project record pays every time you set a genuine new one — each record has to beat the last, so there is nothing to farm.
Skill rating
Alongside AP, the Arena shows a skill rating: an OpenSkill-style estimate that rates the whole field of a session at once. AP says how much you played and won this season; the rating estimates how strong you are, and it carries across seasons instead of resetting.
Two things follow from how it works:
- It only moves in sessions with at least two players. Solo runs earn AP, but leave your rating untouched — there is nobody to be measured against.
- A newcomer starts around 1200, and the number stays cautious until the system has seen you play a few times. Somebody with one strong session can outrank a regular on rating while trailing far behind on AP: that is the point of having both.
